The 2015 edition of the Southern Fishing News hosted Operation HOOAH (Healing Outside Of an Army Hospital) is ready for the wounded Soldiers arrival October 2. The Soldiers will be escorted into Florence AL by the Patriot Guard Riders from the Athens AL group.
Volunteer guide positions have been filled for the two days of fishing on Pickwick Lake October 3 and 4. The launch will be from the Riverfront Park ramp on Pickwick for both days.
The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Warrior Transition Battalion has been in contact with event coordinators and said the list for 15 Purple Heart Award Soldiers is almost complete with 11 verified Soldiers and 4 in the process of being given permission to attend.
MANY local organizations, local government, local businesses, individuals and national fishing industry companies are supporting the event.
The 2015 event is the fourth year the wounded Soldiers have been hosted in Northwest Alabama to go fishing with an area, volunteer guide.
